ata from the 2013 Open Doors Report shows that more than 9,400 students from the United Kingdom enrolled in U.S. programs last year, an increase of 3.1 percent.

According to The Telegraph, the increase of U.K. students studying in the United States benefits both participating students and their home countries. By networking, building new relationships and experiencing a new culture, these students bring value back to their own labor markets.
Many students from the United Kingdom choose to enroll in U.S. schools because of the opportunities available. For example, some U.S. schools have broad liberal arts programs. These programs allow students to choose a major later than they might in other colleges or universities.
Last year, approximately 4,500 students from the United Kingdom enrolled in undergraduate programs and over 2,250 students studied in graduate programs. The most popular fields of study included social sciences, business and management.
